Authors: Kirk Anderson, Clarence Stilwill, Frank Roulard, Frank Rowland, and Clarence Stilwell
Average review score:

Idaho Discovered
As a native Idahoan, this is the first book I have ever found that truly represents the entire state. Idaho is a very diverse landscape and a huge area to cover by any means of transportation. Kirk Anderson's commitment to intimately discover and share his Idaho journey is a gift to all who know or wish to know this beautiful state. The photography proves to be of the highest caliber. Great !

Spectacular Idaho!!
This is a spectacular collection of photographs of one of the most beautiful places you can imagine...Truly "God's Country ", Idaho's diversity has been captured by Kirk Anderson in a magnificant volume showing the mountains, waters, and deserts of this special part of America. He has truly "discovered" Idaho!!

A truly remarkable photographic compendium
Idaho is a state of geological extremes that range from a desert moonscape to towering mountain peaks, to urban city landscapes. Photographer Kirk Anderson fully and vividly documents the diversity and beauty of this diverse and sometimes surprising state through a spectrum of color photography that presents memorable (and often artistic) portraits in its celebration. Idaho Discovered is a volume of spectacular, informative, entertaining, and highly recommended images that work wonderfully well to showcase the diverse landscapes. The accompanying texts by Frank Rowland and Clarence Stilwill are excellent frameworks supporting a truly remarkable photographic compendium.

Dear Dad: Letters from an Adult Child
Published in Paperback by Penguin USA (Paper) (March, 1991)
Author: Louie Anderson
Average review score:

This is a FABULOUS book.
Louie Anderson does a fantastic job of detailing the life of children growing up with alcololic parents. I have never read a more moving book, and cried in several places because of how great he painted the picture of life in his home. Everyone should read this book!!

A must read for anyone who has a father
I picked this book up in a library in college and couldn't put it down. Louie Anderson describes his relationship (or lack thereof) with his alcoholic, abusive father. The stories he relates are heart-wrenching and real. The book is a collection of letters Anderson wrote to his father after his father died. This book was of particular benefit to me after my own father died, though he was neither an alcoholic nor abusive. The book finishes with letters Anderson has received from readers that relate their stories of a need for resolution or closure with their own fathers. It's an easy read, dripping with painful irony (you'll laugh while you cry--I promise), and will help just about everyone gain a new appreciation for the impact fathers can have on children.

Brings Dysfuntion to a whole new light
I read this book because someone recommended it to me. I'm not an adult child of alcoholism. I'm and adult child of child molestation. This book really helped me deal with the pain of growing up "different." I recommend it to anyone who felt different growing up. I started writing letters to the person who I am most angry at and it's really helping me to become more comfortable with myself. Thank you Louie Anderson for bringing such a painful experience out in the open.

Lend Me an Ear: The Temperament, Selection, and Training of the Hearing Dog
Published in Paperback by Doral Publishing (October, 1999)
Authors: Martha Hoffman and Mark Anderson
Average review score:

Terrific book!
This is an excellent book, not only because of the fascinating insight into what it takes to make a hearing dog, but also for understanding and evaluating dog temperaments in general. It would be absolutely invaluable for someone wanting to pick a dog from a shelter. The author has literally evaluated thousands of shelter dogs in her years of searching for suitable dogs to train as hearing ear dogs. This book would make a great addition to any dog lover's library.

A valued tool for those interested in hearing dog training
I have to say that Martha has put together an outstanding book. Her attention to detail (particularly the emphasis on the importance of understanding breed behaviors and functions - and temperament of dogs) and the realistic picture portrayed of hearing dog training or partnership makes the book not only a valued tool for those interested in hearing dog training or partnership -- but also a recommended read for those interested in any aspect of assistance dog dog work. Great job, Martha !

An earfull of training tips
I read Lend Me An Ear specifically for its huge section that analyzes breed
types (as groups, not as individuals) when selecting a dog for service
(specifically hearing) work. I found the training tips to be very helpful,
as they address some of the more obnoxious personality traits found not only
in what the author termed "reactive" dogs but also occasionally in our own beloved
trained service dogs. The book is hilarious at times with many personal
examples of the trials and tribulations of training hearing dogs to alert
their partners to various sounds

Only by Your Touch
Published in Library Binding by Center Point Pub (October, 2003)
Author: Catherine Anderson

Can't put it down!
I absolutely love Catherine Anderson and this is one of her best books. Rarely do I find a book now that keeps me up all night but this one did. I just had to finish it. The characters are wonderful. You will be hooked from the first page. Ben Longtree is the sensitive, rugged male we've all been looking for. Chloe has come from a bad marriage with a sickly son who has sworn to never trust men again. Sound familiar? But Catherine Anderson has chosen her male character well. Ben is part Shosone Indian who is also a vet who has a certain "magic" to him. I won't spoil it for you. The other reviews describe the contents well. If you read only one book this summer, this better be it!

Hot hot hot!
I picked this up as an airplane book and ended up reading it every evening while on my mini-vacation! It is the first of Catherine Anderson's books I've read and I'm definintely going to become a regular of hers. I loved Chloe's strength of character and the fact that she's believable, in a believable clerical position as a dispatcher. I could also readily identify with the Christmas store and Chloe's delight with the business. Her problems with Bobby Lee definitely raised the anxiety level of the plot, considering what side of the law he was on. His cunning, devious break in and the transmission to the dispatcher were both terrifying and believable. Ms. Anderson writes well and certainly knows how to envoke passion in her readers. The intimatacy between Chloe and Ben was just plain HOT. Wow!

Feel good book!! Definitely a keeper!!
After Annie's Song, Simply Love and Keegan's Lady, I thought that I have read all of Catherine Anderson's wonderful books, but I spoke too soon. The way "Only By Your Touch" was written will keep you enthralled till the end. The book itself was magical, and you do feel "touched" even after the final page.

How Murray Saved Christmas
Published in Hardcover by Price Stern Sloan Pub (January, 2003)
Authors: Mike Reiss, David Catrow, and Jon Anderson
Average review score:

Holiday hilarity, with bagels and lox....
Enough delightful silliness to give both kids and grownups the giggles! Many of the references - Calvin Klein, Richard Nixon, Kramden and Norton - will only make sense to the grownups. Still, the rhythm of the text, the intricate and colorful illustrations, and the comforting message of even the naughty youngsters receiving Christmas presents make this a new holiday book that kids and their parents will want to read many times.

ONE OF THE BEST CHRISTMAS STORIES WE'VE READ!
"How Murray Saved Christmas" is a truly hilarious kids' book (that adults will love, too.) We actually cracked up while we were reading it to our kids! The story is really entertaining and full of great jokes! That's not surprising, since the guy who wrote it used to write for The Simpsons. But the story of Murray is also very sweet and heartwarming - it's a great modern Christmas tale. We got a copy for our kids and will probably buy a bunch more to give as gifts.

Ha ha
This book is funny. And you don't have to be a kid to enjoy it. But, alas, ultimately my 5 year old daughter loves this book. So much so, as cute as it is, it's starting to get annoying "Daddy, can you read 'How Murry Saved Christmas' again?". I swear I get that like 10 times a day now. Ugh. But, if I was to read a book over and over again, it would be this one. Also, my 13 year old daughter recommends the book "The Little Guide To Happiness". She says it's the best book for teens ever. I read it and it's a sweet little book. You can't go wrong with these.

We Are Not Forgotten: George Anderson's Messages of Love and Hope from the Other Side
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Berkley Pub Group (September, 1994)
Authors: Joel Martin, Patricia Romanowski, and George Anderson
Average review score:

Excellent Book - Highly Recommend to anyone grieving.
All the books by and about George Anderson are excellent and MUST READS for anyone experiencing the loss of a loved one. To be read with an open mind, - but in my case,(a former MAJOR skeptic) I literally began calling some of the people in the book and others that had met with him and was assured by ALL of them that the readings in the books were accurately reproduced. One suggestion - read "WE DON'T DIE" first, then "WE ARE NOT FORGOTTEN." "OUR CHILDREN FOREVER" is also excellent, and "LESSONS FROM THE LIGHT" is worth reading as well. Read the books & do your own research about George- he's been put to the test on TV (Donahue;Unsolved Mysteries/48 Hours) and they are worth having on tape. The readings in the books are very impressive, loaded with details he could not possibly have about strangers- it's easy to be skeptical and believe only what you can sense yourself. But George (who was close to death himself as a child)proves there is something MORE. And IF he were a "Con"- he wouldn't still be doing this at such high demand after 19 yrs. Read. Take comfort. Research it yourself. Speak to those who have spoken to him. "We are not Forgotten" includes the story of David Elliott's father's reading (he was also interviewed later on TV).This was a skeptical man who began his journey to George thru the "We Don't Die" book. THEY SAY ONLY DEATH & TAXES ARE CERTAIN. WRONG. Some people may cheat on their taxes, but none of us can cheat death. And until it affects us, we forget how many people are in pain everyday from grief. It doesn't end at the funeral, AND it does NOT end 2 weeks (or months) later either.Grief can last months, years, or a lifetime when you lose a loved one. If you have lost a loved one and are feeling the pain of the loss - read the books about George Anderson. They are worth reading AND re-reading!!! Open your mind and your heart. When you lose someone you love sometimes faith is not enough; proof is needed that your loved one is alright and George Anderson's books and readings help provide that. Excellent.

An insightful and amazing account of George's gift to others
I first read "We Don't Die" several years ago after a close friend had passed away and a co-worker recommended I read George Anderson's story. I thought I knew how to grieve, as I had lost several family members and friends over the previous few years. I was overwhelmed. As soon as I finished the first book, I read "We Are Not Forgotten". His communications are truly healing, even for those who have not had the fortune of meeting with him. Reading his books reassure us that dying is not the end and that loved ones are not forever gone. And for those people who don't particularly enjoy reading, let them know that his books are very simple and extremely fast reading. This should not be missed.

We Are Not Forgotten
George Anderson's books were a life saver for me and my family. After the unexpected death of my brother last year, these books helped us through the grieving process. The information offered so much hope and ultimately strengthened our spirituality. Joel Martin did such a wonderful job of proving George's credibility in George's first book, "We Don't Die", that we were compelled to read all his others. I highly reccommend these TREASURES to anyone who lost a loved one or who just needs to know more about life after life. I am eternally grateful to people like George Anderson. Not only has his gift helped so many people, but George's pure goodness shows through in his work. Because of George, I now know that my wonderful brother will live on forever, watching over us.

Alex Haley's Queen: The Story of an American Family
Published in Paperback by Avon (February, 1994)
Authors: Alex Haley, David Stevens, and Anderson
Average review score:

A triumphant story of hope and glory.
Alex Haley & Dave Stevens' QUEEN is a rare gem---the story of an american family that touches many lives. Queen is the main focus of the book but her story spans past & future generations from Ireland to America. Some of the characters are tragic but all have hope for a better tomorrow. The heartbreak of Easter's love for her "master", Queen being taught to read by her grandpa and the Haley family's quest to get a better education for their youngest son are just some of the heartbreaking stories in this novel. I enjoyed the book very much and I now hope to finally read ROOTS.

PHENOMENAL BOOK! Well worth finding it!
I absolutely loved this book and have read it many times. It starts with Ireland and goes through the slavery struggle and family life inbetween. The characters are amazing portrayed and presented. Not only does it inspire thought emotion and passion, it makes you wish you could express life so creatively on paper. BRAVO Mr. Haley! I can't wait to read Roots!

Great Book!
One of Alex Haley's greatest works, another branch to the history of his family. At the end of the book you want to know what happened after the story ended. A great book for people who want to know more inside the life of a a mixed race slave, who faces many tragedies in her life but learns to trust and let people love her. Every time you reread the book you find something new. Exceptional even for children to read. If you loved Roots you'll absolutely love this book. And you will love the movie.

Best book on plant propagation

In the back are a glossary, an index, and north america hardiness map. Very complete.

Book contains hundreds of small, but helpful photographs that demonstrate a process or identify some plant anatomy.

Solid information, well worth the money!

Absolutely Excell...ah..nnnnt!
As a professional horticulturalist, gosh what a word, I spotted this delightful book in the Beaufort Public Library, kept it out too long because I did not want to take it back and it cost me a 75 cent fine...such a deal. Now I MUST buy my own, even though my birthday is less than a month away. It makes propagation a breeze. And what great graphics and photos. I'll be out gathering palmetto seeds soon. Ever wonder what to do with a sago palm seed? You won't believe what they need to sprout. Now I know why the plant is so expensive to buy. With this book you have the knowledge to start just about any plant you can think of.

Holy Cow!
I bought this book for my husband, but I use it more than he does! This is one of the best plant books I have ever seen. The techniques are easy to understand and follow, the pictures are outstanding, and there are TONS of plants listed! This book will take you through the history of plant propagation, genetic ins and outs, and the techniques that you can use in your own garden. If you have a garden full of veggies, or a yard with trees, shrubs, and rose bushes, this book really is a must for you!

Cats Have No Masters...Just Friends: An Investigation into the Feline Mind
Published in Hardcover by Willow Creek Press (April, 1998)
Author: Karen Anderson
Average review score:

Excellent guidelines for raising a cats and beautiful photos
While the book at first glance is a lovely collection of cat photographs in a coffee-table style format, reading the text reveals excellent guidelines for establishing a loving relationship with a cat and the benefits that offers to both cats and the people who become their friends. For me, it reinforced many of the positive results I've experienced with my cats over the years, and does so in ways I find rarely discussed in cat books. I would recommend this book to new cat owners as well as those of us who are long-established "cat people."

insightful & helpful...MORE than just a coffee table book!
Don't let the price scare you away, it's worth every penny. There's a wealth of tools and secrets for a super-rewarding relationship with your cat(s). Two thumbs 'way up' for this work by Karen Anderson. purr purr purr

PURRRFECT GIFT FOR A CAT LOVER
Purrfect cat coffee table book. One purrecious cat basking in the sun after another, another at play, another at hunt

...it would make a great wonderful gift with beautiful cat pictures in majestic scenic backgrounds and great useful verses on how to treat a cat and how a cat treats you."

..take it from me, my friend's cat passed away and so i gifted her with the book and she felt 1000 TIMES BETTER! she's thinking of now getting another cat!

To Fly and Fight : Memoirs Of A Triple Ace
Published in Paperback by I Books (October, 2003)
Author: Clarence E. "Bud" Anderson
Average review score:

Great Memories of a Triple Ace
Triple Ace Col. "Bud" Anderson takes you to his first encounters with aircraft as a young boy in rural California. With WWII Captain Anderson finds himself flying missions over Nazi Germany and encountering a number of talented Luftwaffe pilots as the 357th FG makes its effort for Air Supremacy in 1944. Follow this wonderful pilot as he tests aircraft for the Air force followed by a trip to Vietnam. As you read the book keep in mind the author is "still" flying OLD CROW at airshows! No lack of good adventure in "To Fly and Fight". Hard to put down once you pick it up!

Truly outstanding
Col. Anderson's accounts of his flying in WWII and as a test pilot are truly memorable. While the writing style is course, it reflects his verbal recollections. I heard Col. Anderson speak at a Test Pilot School graduation; the way he told his stories and his dry humor are as much evident in the book as when he was on the stage. The room was full of test pilots and their families, and you could hear a pin drop. One of the very best books on a man and his love of flying, duty, honor, country, and his family. A must read!

To Fly & Fight
As an avid reader of World War Two History. And being a Viet Nam Veteran; I found this book to be a most fascinating history; Of "Not Only the Man"; But his recollections of his life growing up oin Rural California in the 1930's & 1940's. His enlistment in the Army Air Corp; And his experiences in England during the war. This is "No dry" mundane slow reading military text book. Colonol Anderson, tells of his love for flying and his vivid discriptions of Europe during World War Two; Help the reader to picture what it was like for an average guy; Who has a love for flying and trying his best to stay alive in a extremly hostile environment. He does not dwell on the sadder aspects of war. But trys to explain how he learned to cope with these stressors; And still fullfill his dream of flying. He also go's to great lengths to discuss the other aircraft he had flown. His adventures in P-39's and T-6 Texans. I found his book to be non-judgemental; But very fair to all the persons good and bad that he had come to know in his life. He only briefly discusses his flying career during the Viet Nam Conflict. But then this book was not written with Viet Nam in mind solely. This book is about the man; His love of flying.

I found this book to enlightning; refreshing; funny; sad; extrordinary; And written with a smooth tempo and hums along like the engine of a P-51 Mustang. The Book and the Man are unseperable. He takes you up in his Mustang with him through his rememberences. And brings you home to the runway just as a good pilot would do today. I would recommend this book to anyone who has not only an intrest in World War Two. But an intrest in a "Great Man" who lived an extrordinary life. Fighting for all of us; Flying for all of us. This man is a "TRUE"; American Hero.
